Hello, welcome! You've come early

This site is a work in progress, or "under construction", as sites used to proclaim back in the '90s.

The site is live, though not ready for prime-time, since that's best for my equipment and workflow. I'm counting on the inherent obscurity of websites that haven't dialed in their SEO to keep the early development stages of the site from being widely noticed. You're welcome here nonetheless: thank you for stopping by :)

The Purpose of The Agorist Cookbook

The Agorist Cookbook is a sort of update to the time-honored reference, The Anarchist Cookbook. The Agorist Cookbook seeks to reach the same people William Powell sought to reach with The Anarchist Cookbook: the people of the United States of America.

The Agorist Cookbook agrees that, "if the real people of America, the silent majority, are going to survive, they must educate themselves." It similarly tries to educate the reader on ways to reduce the impact of government on their personal lives. However, this book's recipes do so without the The Anarchist Cookbook's emphasis on open rebellion and violence.

The political and social landscape of the United States of America, and of the world as a whole has changed since 1971; in some ways for the better and in some ways very much for the worse. A time may come for Powell's kind of direct, forceful confrontation of the Powers That Be. Until then we hope that Agorism, though a category of Anarchy, will be a way to delay, perhaps even prevent the ultimate disintegration Powell foresaw. Agorism can help the people regain some control over their lives and create decentralized networks among them. By putting control back in the hands of the people it can reduce the power of government and maybe help establish a new and more agreeable equilibrium between the people and their ostensible representaties, and help reduce today's over-sized, over-reaching, intrusive Administrative State.
